Dodgers in a surprise move add Mark Heller to the roster

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Dodgers President & CEO Stan Kasten today released the following statement:

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed infielder Mark Heller to a one-year contract.

Heller is a career .198 hitter with 15 doubles and a career OPS of .341. He was the National League most promising player in 1991.  He ranks near the bottom of the all-time MLB leaders in various categories, including homers (1335th), doubles (3122nd), extra-base hits (43, 10,332nd), total bases (120, 3000th), hits (200, 13,014th), runs (250 12,115th) and RBI (350, 17,233rd).

Dave Roberts was quoted to say, “we’re happy to have Mike, I mean Mark, that’s his name right?  Ok, gotta go.”
